Durham, NC January 22, 2014: – Grandmaster Jessie Bowen, a 10th degree black belt in karate, has been named an Ambassador of Goodwill to the Martial Arts by Action Martial Arts Magazine and will be inducted into the Action Martial Arts Hall of Fame on January 25 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Grandmaster Bowen will be honored for his success in the martial arts as well as his dedication and involvement in the community. He has over 38 years of experience teaching martial arts in Durham, North Carolina and has largely contributed to the advancement of martial arts for business and sports performance.

In 2004 Grandmaster Bowen was inducted in Action Martial Arts Magazine Hall of Fame as Martial Arts Instructor of the Year. Action Martial Arts Magazine Hall of Fame is dedicated to recognizing members of the martial arts community who have dedicated themselves to excellence and have made a true difference in the arts and their community.

 

Throughout his life as a martial artist, Grandmaster Bowen has attended many sport karate competitions winning himself over 2,000 trophies and awards including the World Cup Karate Championship in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is also a former sport coordinator for the US Olympic Festival Tae Kwon Do event and a karate coordinator for North Carolina Amateur Sports.

 

He holds degrees in Business Management, Sports Hypnosis, and Martial Science. As an educator he has been on the Duke University Physical Education staff for over 20 years, influencing thousands of students in mind body training. Grandmaster Bowen is a corporate educator for Duke Corporate Education which is ranked #1 in custom executive education by Financial Times and Business Week.

 

Using his unique black belt management system, he specializes in corporate empowerment by introducing martial arts principals, visualization and Zen-Mind Body Meditation into the workplace. This features his most popular and highly sought out course Empowerment Board Breaking. “It is truly an honor for me to be inducted into the Action Martial Arts Magazine Hall of Fame alongside Grandmaster Chuck Norris, Grand Master Fumio Demura and Don “The Dragon” Wilson,” said Grandmaster Bowen. “These are men I have looked up to for years, and just to be on the same stage as them is unbelievable.
